Luke leaned in close and she felt his hand against her shoulder.
He held out a flower petal for Raine to see and let out a hearty laugh.
“You still riding close enough to the trees to pick these?”
She shrugged. “Maybe.”
He smiled. “Never change, Raine.”
She took that as a compliment from the long gaze as his eyes held hers.
Deeply, she inhaled the freshness of the air she could never get in the city.
She had changed. The past seven years had taken her heart away from
Clare County and Luke. Such few words always came from
Luke but with so much meaning. Words that brought back memories and feelings.
Shocked to discover him in her grandfather’s kitchen,
she was now grateful for his presence and his few words.
Her thoughts only made her wonder if high emotions
and walks down memory lane
were temporary.
